Monday's Moment of Wisdom - Peal Number 17

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine

Every time we go on holiday I get really excited about going to the airport, I love them! To me they are a gateway to adventure, fun and experiencing a different life, something new and fresh. I love to wander round soaking up the atmosphere, watching others as they hurry through the terminals imagining who they are and where they are going.

I love to take my time, do some shopping, grab a coffee or a glass of wine depending on whether I am responsible for a small child, I buy some snacks for the plane and the biggest, fattest glossy fashion magazine I can find. This time I didn't get chance to buy one as we were travelling with LC and had my parents in-law in tow as well, in fact the only magazine I was carrying in my bag was In the Night Garden as some entertainment for my little madam on the plane. She did fall asleep though and the crappy in-flight movie had already started so I remembered that OH had download the infamous 50 Shades of Grey on to my IPad so thought I'd take a look and that's where my holiday reading obsession started!

Anyway I feel so lucky a privileged to be able to travel around the world and experience different cultures and meet new people and have even had the opportunity to live in some of my favourite ones too. Travelling abroad certainly does open up the eyes and the mind to understand that their are so many ways to be, to live your life, express yourself. It gives you a chance to learn and know that this world, this life is bigger than you, there is no wrong or right sometimes, just different  and different is always good, I strive on being different and every time I travel I bring back a new part of me to add to my own world from somewhere else!

One of my biggest wishes for my little girl is that she too is bitten by the travel bug and is curious about the world around her. Already she has visited two very different parts of the world before she is 2 and this time was very taken with the airport and LOVED flying! As the plane took off she turned to her dad and said "More!!!" She was fairly well behaved and charmed everyone in the seats around us, which was a relief!

We are off to Amsterdam in August but with out LC, she is camping with her Grandparents and myself and the other half are having some couple time together. But it is still a chance to make some more memories, see  the world and pick up some duty free at the airport!! I think I should of been a travel writer, maybe LC will grow up to do something in travel if she is anything like her mummy! We are even considering another trip later on this year, anybody have any suggestions? Where is your favourite holiday destinations?

Wish you were here......

......and so would you because the weather is fabulous, at least 35C most days going up to 40C we have had a mini heat wave since being in Cyprus!

Soon it will be time to go home but we have had a fabulous time, scrumptious food, great wine and a few cheeky cocktails! We have swam everyday in the pool and sunbathed and built sandcastles on the beach. We have visited local towns and looked at some beautiful churches and myself and the OH even squeezed in a very romantic date night!

We have fallen in love with Cyprus and have really enjoyed some quality family time relaxing and just being together and we hope to come back again one day. So we a have a few more days to enjoy and then will be heading back to the airport and back in to the normal routine of life, but as the OH and I sat on glorious Nissi Beach yesterday in Ayia Napa soaking up some rays and talking about the rest of our summer plans we realised that it's only 8 weeks to our next holiday, Amsterdam here we come!

Bon Voyage.........

Wednesday 13 June 2012

We are going to enjoy some sun, sea and sight seeing and as the in-laws are also joining us, some nice evenings out for dinner eating lots of scrumptious food knowing LC is being well looked after!

So the cases are finally packed, the kitties have been shipped off to my sister in laws and we are ready to embark on our journey to Heathrow at 7am, keep your fingers crossed that LC behaves on the flight and we all arrive in one piece!

Yummy Mummy Meme

Saturday 9 June 2012

So one of my favourite bloggers and dear twitter friends Mrs Jones has tagged me in this Yummy Mummy Meme, originally started over at Busy Bee and I am excited to have a go!

As with most memes there are some rules so here they are!

When answering the questions, give as much detail as possible. It’s all about the finer details, people!

What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Normally I'm getting right out of bed to get a shouting baby out of her cot! She normally is our little alarm clock but if we wake before her, I give my OH a little squeeze, it's the best way to start my day!

Do you Shower Daily? Are you a Early Morning Shower or  evening Bath type?
Well post baby I don't always get the chance to everyday - judge me if you will! With a small toddler to look after, working and taking care of all the other elements that make up our life I don't always get the chance! So I try to grab one before OH leaves in the morning or I jump in the bath with LO at night. When ever she has sleepovers at Grandmas I always have the most long luxurious baths with wine and candles as I miss this so much as a mum!

Do you wear Make Up Daily?
When I worked in the outside world I did but now I work from home no, I find it kind of pointless to get all dolled up just to spend time on my own at home. It does seem more of a treat though now when I have a reason to!

What's in your make up bag?
Mostly too much crap but my must haves are MAC's Mineralised Satin Finish foundation No 7 Quick Cover Blemish Stick and Lancome Hypnose Waterproof  Mascara as well as an assortment of powders, bronzer, eye shadows and liners and hundreds of tubes and pots of lip-gloss! I love trying out new products!

When your having a slummy Mummy day what do you normally wear?
Well, I could argue that most days are slummy mummy days for me at the moment! My staple week day uniform is leggings or jeans, Brenton tops or comfy knitted cardigans depending on weather or t-shirts or vests from Gap and of course ballet pumps!

Nails - how often do you get them done?
Not as much as I would like! I used to have a girl come to my house once a month and do them but she moved away so recently I have been doing them myself - I always get them done for special occasions though as my little treat!

Your top tip for Tired Eyes?
Get more sleep? Lol, if like me though and you have a little monkey who doesn't always sleep well I have found Garnier Youthful Radiance tinted eye roll on a life saver , hides dark circles and gives my eyes a lift!

Are you a Starbucks or Costa Coffee kind of girl?
If you ask anyone who knows me they will tell you all about my obsession with Starbucks, my OH bought me a Starbucks Card at Christmas and I'm am forever topping it up, we even have there coffee at home. I love it so much as it reminds me of my days when I lived in Canada!

How many Children do you have/want & why?
Well I have one adorable little girl who is twenty months, OH and I have always agreed we want a big family and have settled on four! Whether we will get them all is another story! We are hoping number 2 will come soon but that has proven more difficult than we thought and if/when number 2 does arrive I'm sure I will post all about that stressful and emotional journey but right now it's a little sensitive for me.

Where is your favourite place to shop for Babies/Children's clothes?
Mostly LC has her clothes from Gap  as well as Old Navy (thanks to her Canadian Godmother) or Next (thanks to my mum's life long discount!) For special occasions I like to buy her dresses from children's clothing boutiques, for her Naming Day we got her dress from Poppy their girl's dresses are gorgeous!

Here she is in her Dress!

Flats or Heels Everyday shoes are?
Flats for me, I wish I had the lifestyle to be able to wear heels even a few days a week but unfortunately that is not the case! I do enjoy getting dressed up and wearing heels when we go out though!

So now it's time for me to tag three lovely ladies for this meme so here they are!
